Remediation System Design Build Installation and Pilot Testing
Remediation system design is site specific. The systems are designed to utilize the technology that is best suited to the geology of the site, the contaminants of concern (COCs), the media in which those COCs are located (i.e. vadose zone soil, saturated soil and/or groundwater) and the client's budget. The systems are designed to run, to the extent practical, with minimal attention and maintenance. They are energy efficient, thereby reducing client operational costs. The key to the superiority of the equipment engineered and constructed by Aztech is the control system. Instead of using a number of independently operating subsystems, Aztech's remediation equipment is controlled by a centralized logic system. This logic system is constructed of readily available, inexpensive components. Each subsystem uses input from the other system components to operate only when needed. This attention to detail produces cost efficient site remediation. Aztech’s remedial systems are pre‐assembled at our manufacturing facility in Ballston Spa, NY. System construction is done with the anticipation of accommodating future changes in the site remedial approach. An example of this may be a site that is utilizing groundwater extraction and treatment (GWE&T) to control plume migration and recover free product during the initial stages of remediation may be a candidate for a combination of soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparge (AS) in the future. In this scenario, installation of the underground infrastructure for each possible remedial approach (GWE&T, SVE and AS) is done during the initial phase of system construction in order to accommodate these changes in remedial approach without further excavation and disruption in later stages of the project. Aztech personnel have experience working with pump and tank, excavation and building construction contractors to integrate the installation of remediation system infrastructure into existing facilities or new construction.
Aztech performs routine monitoring and maintenance for its remediation systems. Routine monitoring is performed to optimize system performance and to ensure compliance with discharge regulations. Routine maintenance is performed to minimize downtime, maximize the life of the system and to ensure that the system is adjusted for changing site conditions.
